BIOGRAPHY I am a self-taught lifelong enthusiast and student of creative pursuits. When I discovered acrylic pouring in recent years, I felt a real chemistry (!). Forgive the pun, but it’s because acrylic pouring is a bit like both chemistry and cooking, in how the recipe, preparation and pour technique (and even the temperature) dramatically impact on the result. I’ll be honest, I once had to re-take a chemistry class, so I wonder what my lecturer would have thought aboutRead More→
BIOGRAPHY Originally from Bridgend, I now live in the coastal village of Aberporth, West Wales and work from my studio in nearby Cardigan. I’m continuously fascinated by the interplay of colours and how they combine and interact with one another. Painting allows me to play and explore relationships between colours and as a result, I (hopefully) create visually appealing pieces. When I begin a painting, the initial foundation of acrylic colours are applied spontaneously and I try not to focusRead More→
BIOGRAPHY I am an artist from Machynlleth who makes prints using Collagraph and Linocut. This series is based on the landscape around my home in the Dovey Valley. The work derives from my appreciation of the rural way of life, traditions, the Welsh language, Welsh culture and the beauty of the surrounding landscape which is an integral part of my life.
BIOGRAPHY Buildings have always been at the heart of my drawing and paintings. I work directly from the environment, often revisiting places many times in ever changing weather and seasons. Changing my palette with mood and nature, from the black and brown hues of winter to the yellows and ochre of autumn. More so the bright and fresh greens, yellows and clear blue skies of springtime have special appeal in my working year. My paintings have been inspired by immediateRead More→
BIOGRAPHY I am a Welsh artist, born in Cardiff. I spent my childhood in the village of Gwaelod y Garth where I acquired my love for the mountains. I trained in London and worked as a carver and gilder for many years, in both London and North Wales, mainly in the restoration of gilt mirrors and furniture. I returned to painting in 2000 and became a member of the North Wales Society of Fine Art in 2010 of which IRead More→
BIOGRAPHY I originally trained as a graphic designer and for the past 17 or so years I have worked as a secondary school art and design teacher. During this time I have always had an urge to create, splitting my spare time between producing artwork and writing and performing music in various bands. When painting I work mainly in mixed media and focus on Welsh landscapes and seascapes. I’ve always been drawn to the Welsh coast and open spaces, spendingRead More→
BIOGRAPHY Creating art that evokes that sense of place. I have always been awed by the wonders of the natural world, and it is the expression of this wonder that inspires me. I walk in our beautiful Carmarthenshire landscape most days, and even on repeated routes, it’s never the same twice. Mother Nature provides incredible inspiration every day. How is it, that something as simple as the unfurling of a leaf, the sunlight filtering through seawater, or the wind scuddingRead More→
BIOGRAPHY I’m driven by a deep love of the landscape here in Gwynedd and a real need to record its many moods and climactic changes. I love trying to capture the sun on a newly cut hayfield, the skeletal trees of winter, or the olive greens of a turbulent sea. I sketch outdoors in all weathers and seasons, making careful notes of any nuance that a simple drawing may not have captured, before transposing them onto canvas. Working outside reminds me I’mRead More→
