BIOGRAPHY

I am a self-taught lifelong enthusiast and student of creative pursuits. When I discovered acrylic pouring in recent years, I felt a real chemistry (!). Forgive the pun, but it’s because acrylic pouring is a bit like both chemistry and cooking, in how the recipe, preparation and pour technique (and even the temperature) dramatically impact on the result. I’ll be honest, I once had to re-take a chemistry class, so I wonder what my lecturer would have thought about this turn of events.

I discovered acrylic pouring is a delightfully organic and pure process. This offered me the creative freedom I needed for expressing my love of colours and their interactions. It’s a genre where “going with the flow” can be quite literal.

Like many artists living in and around Aberystwyth I am inspired by our beautiful surroundings, and of course also by the many surprising and captivating colour combinations found all over our planet, particularly in the natural world. In scales ranging from micro to macro to mega! Often nature is reflected more literally when my pours take on a geological, geographical, or biological feel. But when it comes to the end result, I feel that just as much joy -maybe more- can be gained by the viewer’s own interpretation. Art after all is about how it makes the viewer feel. I hope you enjoy my brand of pour paintings!
